Understanding License Tiers #
PetMatchPro offers three license tiers. Each tier builds on the previous one, unlocking additional features and configuration options.

What Each Tier Includes #
Basic (Free) #
Everything you need to display adoptable animals on your website. Includes the default search and detail templates, basic sort configuration, color and label customization for core elements (text, titles, labels, label icons), the print poster feature for adoption listings, and the per-method “Hide Empty Fields” admin checkbox. The Colors tab is available so every site can match its brand on essential elements; advanced color controls (button backgrounds, banners, social, pet and overlay icons) unlock at Junior.
Junior #
Adds lost and found animal search (PetPoint and AnimalsFirst), the list method type (PetPoint), the featured method type (PetPoint and AnimalsFirst), premium templates and theme template overrides, pagination, icons and photo overlays, social sharing, stats rows, banners and subtitles, performance caching, and shortcode parameters for advanced layout control like rows, columns, exclusions, and the hide_empty override. Also adds the Fonts tab for font size controls, icon size controls, admin-configurable button exclusions, button hover text with animal field interpolation, lost/found field exclusion, and the visual Shortcode Builder tool that generates copy-paste-ready shortcodes from a guided UI.
Preferred #
The full feature set. Adds the preferred method type (AnimalsFirst), filter value management to customize dropdown options, per-method detail-page instructions, field primary/fallback configuration (e.g., display site with location as a fallback), foster location display, the lost/found combination search template, analytics tracking, and the full SEO suite including JSON-LD structured data, an animals sitemap, and per-method-type robots meta noindex controls.
How License Levels Work #
Your license tier is set when you activate your license key. PetMatchPro checks your tier before displaying features:
- Admin settings — Tabs and fields that require a higher tier are hidden or show an upgrade prompt. Some tabs (like Colors and Tools) are visible to all tiers but contain individual controls gated by license.
- Shortcode parameters — Parameters above your tier are silently removed when the page renders.
- Templates — Selecting a template above your tier shows a clear upgrade message instead of the template.
Upgrading Your License #
- Visit petmatchpro.com/my-account.
- Log in to your account.
- Select the tier you’d like to upgrade to.
- After upgrading, your new features will be available immediately — no reinstall needed.
