Changing Labels via Filtering #
In addition to the Labels tab, some label behavior in PetMatchPro is controlled through filter settings. This article covers how filter configuration can affect the labels displayed on your pages.
Lost/Found Per-Animal Labels (AnimalsFirst Only) #
Requires Preferred license.
AnimalsFirst has a unique feature called Lost/Found Per-Animal Labels. When enabled, PetMatchPro checks each animal’s intake type field and applies the appropriate set of labels based on how the animal entered the system.
How It Works #
- PetMatchPro reads the animal’s
intake_typefrom the AnimalsFirst API. - Based on the intake type, it determines which method type’s labels to use:
- Lost intake → Uses Lost method labels
- Found intake → Uses Found method labels
- Other intake types (foster, stray, outcome, pending, rehome, and other related types) → Uses Preferred method labels
- The correct labels are applied to that specific animal’s detail page.
Enabling Lost/Found Labels #
- Go to PetMatchPro > Partners tab.
- Expand the Combination Methods accordion.
- Set the Lost/Found Per-Animal Labels dropdown to Enabled.
- Click Save Partner Options.

Why Use This Feature #
If your AnimalsFirst account includes a mix of lost, found, and other intake types in the same search results, this feature ensures each animal displays with context-appropriate labels. A lost animal shows “Last Seen Date” while a found animal shows “Found Date” – automatically.
Filter Labels in Search Widgets #
The labels that appear above filter dropdown menus (e.g., “Species”, “Breed”, “Status”) can be renamed through the Labels tab using the search filter label fields. These labels control what visitors see above each filter widget in your search form.
For example, you might change:
- “Species” → “Animal Type”
- “Breed” → “Breed/Mix”
- “Status” → “Availability”
Sort Label Customization #
If your search includes a sort dropdown, you can customize the labels for sort options through the Labels tab’s sort label fields. This lets you rename options like “Name” to “Animal Name” or “Date” to “Date Added”.
Labels Tab vs. Filter Tab #
| What You Want to Change | Where to Configure |
|---|---|
| Field label text (e.g., “Breed” → “Breed/Mix”) | Labels tab |
